David Bowie was born in Brixton, South London. His 1st hit single came in 1967, the same year as his debut self-titled album. Since then he’s had 24 studio albums and 5 Number 1 singles including ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Ashes To Ashes’, ‘Let’s Dance’, ‘Under Pressure’ with Queen and the charity hit ‘Dancing In The Streets’ with Mick Jagger. It’s estimated David Bowie has sold over 140 million albums around the world. In 2006 he was given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. His last album ‘The Next Day’ peaked at Number 1 in the UK and 2 in the US. The 1st single ‘Where Are They Now’ became Bowie’s 1st Top 10 since ‘Jump They Say’ in 1993. ‘Lazarus’ is one of 7 tracks from his new album ‘Blackstar’ and is used in the off-Broadway musical of the same name. David has won a Grammy, an Ivor Novello as well as 2 Brit Awards, the most recent for Best Male in 2014.
