Energy price cap welcomed

Don Valley MP backs plans

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint has welcomed the energy regulator's announced plans for a price cap - which it says will save 11 million households around 75-pounds a year on average.

She's campaigned for a protected tarriff since 2015

Ms Flint says Ofgem have worked quickly to do what parliament demanded and propose a comprehensive cap on expensive tariffs.  She hopes this comes into force without further objections or any legal challenges by the Big Six.

Ofgem says it'll protect customers who haven't shopped around for the best deals.
