Term times are changing for children going back to school this week in Bassetlaw.
Students will get a two week half term break in October - and a week's shorter summer holiday.
Chair of Nottinghamshire county council's children's committee Philip Owen believes it will benefit pupils in the run up to Christmas: "Children were starting to lose the ability to concentrate in the run up to Christmas. Colleagues in the primary sector said younger children were getting very tired.
"About 60 percent [of people] were in favour of making this change and I hope we shall see the benefits, particularly educationally, over the forthcoming years."
